--Insists on production of DCP Legal, 3 other officers

The Independent Investigation Panel on Human Rights Violations by the defunct SARS and other units of the Nigerian Police Force on Tuesday gave the police a six-day ultimatum to explain why they refused to obey its order directing them to produce the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) legal in the Force Headquarters before the panel over the case of alleged arbitrary arrest and detention of John Emeka Alozie.

The Independent Investigation Panel on Human Rights Violations by the defunct SARS and other units of the Nigerian Police Force has recovered a vehicle belonging to one Hon. Ngozika Ihuoma confiscated by union bank in 2013.

As Nigeria joins the rest of the global Community to commemorate the 2022 International Day of Zero Tolerance for Discrimination, the National Human Rights Commission enjoins Nigerians, national institutions and other stakeholders to strive and uphold the inherent rights and dignity of all persons, particularly those who are facing one form of discrimination or the other.

In its journey to restore human dignity as well as hold perpetrators of human rights violations accountable, the National Human Rights Commission has said the Independent Investigative Panel on alleged human rights violation by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (IIP-SARS) will on Tuesday 1st of March 2022 continue its sitting.
